Sydney Swans ‘embarrassed and ashamed’ as five players stood down for breach of standards

Bice, Blakey, Heeney, Jordon and Warner hit by suspensions

None of the five players have been arrested or charged

The Sydney Swans CEO says the club is “deeply embarrassed and ashamed” for their players’ apparent failure to maintain the club’s standards at a hotel during the early hours of Monday, suspending them for the remainder of the season.

The club stood down players Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon and Chad Warner on Wednesday morning for the rest of the season. None of the men have been arrested or charged, but have been connected to the police investigation into an alleged sexual assault at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne.
